*Update* 24/08/10
A little update on how the stockies have been doing since going in last Dec(09), well they are doing very well indeed, all the fish we put in were C3 Summer fish between 3&7lb, some of these fish are now getting caught with weight gains in excess of 4lbs, with the average between 2-3lbs and we've still got another couple of months of the growing season left yet!! This time next year we expect some of these fish to be around the 15-20lb mark and what absolute stunners they will be, a big thanks to Viv & Simon at VS Fisheries for supplying us these fantastic looking Carp, the future is certainly very bright indeed.
Also we are in the process of obtaining a stock pond right next to the fishery which 'touch wood' is ours from the 1st Nov, here we will be growing on fish and have the choice of selecting the cream of the crop in years to come.
*Update* 15/07/10
Again we are pleased to announce a secured deposit on some further fish to be stocked at the end of the year (early Nov10), again VS Fisheries will be supplying these fish only this time they will be much bigger fish, average weight will be between 14 & 19lbs, the reasoning behind this is due to some of the originals being stubbornly addicted to the vast amount of naturals in the lake, hopefully these extra fish will create a little competition for food without turning the Fishery into a runs water, we will continue the thesis of providing an out and out big fish water in years to come, already people who have visited the fishery have commented on how fantastic these fish do look when caught.

We are pleased to announce the arrival and settling in of 30 stunning carp from VS Fisheries to compliment the existing beautifull stock, these fish were introduced on the 12th Dec09, of the 30 fish stocked they consisted of 24 mirrors, 5 commons and 1 leather, we were simply taken aback by how incredibly attractive these fish are, if you have a browse through the recently added photo section we think you'll agree!
As said before the lake is a former dis-used mining pit, the lake was left to flourish until a local angling club took control of the lake over the early 70's and stocked it with Bream, Tench and later Carp, this was up until the late 90's when they ceased the rights to the lake, it was then taken on by a local gentleman who gave the lake a little attention up until 3-4yrs ago, since then it has stood idle for a few years, the lake has matured incredibly well over those last few years, since Aug 09 myself and partner Bri have taken over the lease through much persuasion, begging and enthusiasm.
As far as we know (and it is still very much a learning curve), we currently estimate stocks to be around 40-50 Carp left in this 6 acre lake, some of the fish are incredibly dark on top and must rate as in the 'Stunning' category. At the end of this year a further stocking of Leney/Sutton fish are to be introduced, which again are described as some of the UK's finest carp not only for their breath taking looks but also for their excellent growth rates and longetivity. We have also placed an order for more carp in the winter of 09-10' of which the strains are Leney/Sutton, Leney/Dinks and Sutton. It promises to be an exciting time for anglers who fish the venue over the coming years.
Due to the massive amount of natural food in this lake it won't be long before these fish are attaining weights that are talked about in hushed tones, already there is carp in the lake to at least mid 30 with the average weight between 15 & 25lb, currently whilst we have been in control of the lake the biggest weight that has come out so far is to a local lad at 27.12(Big Plated Mirror!!), and this in just 3 weeks of opening!!
What you will not find at this venue is an easy 'runs' type water, we want to make this a fairly challenging venue that with the right approach will yield some superb results, something that has you chomping at the bit to get back for more, but is available on a day ticket without having to pay sky high syndicate fees.
